Sober Space Continuing-Care Program:
Soberspace is a continuing-care program for adolescents and families recovering from the disease of chemical dependency

Program Facts
Soberspace is a program designed to assist adolescents and families with the tasks adherent in stage II recovery (life after drugs). Program components consist of:

An adolescent recovery group that meets once a week for 24 group sessions. Group issues and topics reflect the challenges of staying sober in a using world, practicing the skills attained in treatment, developing new skills, relapse prevention and learning to have fun sober, just to name a few.

Individual counseling for each adolescent twice a month to address individual recovery issues and provide ongoing support.

Family therapy twice a month (single-family) or once a month in multi-family groups (that include a pot-luck dinner) to assist parents and teens in dealing with issues of trust, responsibility, relapse prevention and to promote family recovery.

Program Goals
The primary purpose of the Soberspace program is to assist the chemically dependent person and their family with recovery through professional counseling and group support that is compatible with the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of the AA/AlAnon Programs. Soberspace supports and validates the efforts of adolescents who have established sobriety through treatment and/or AA attendance.

Developmentally, the newly sober individual may need assistance in 'catching up' on tasks they missed as a result of their chemical use. The very process of being in a recovery group is life affirming and opposed to the illness of addiction. Soberspace staff understand and promote healthy, holistic recovery.

Families and parents also need assistance in the recovery process and Soberspace offers support and guidance to parents and families.

Soberspace focuses on life beyond addiction. Individual and family issues are addressed in a manner that moves participants along the various stages of recovery with a special focus on Stage II recovery and relapse prevention Activities range from traditional to experiential & action-based modes of therapy. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is used on a regular basis in Soberspace groups, allowing participants to PRACTICE & REFINE skills learned in treatment.
